Newspaper Index David Pool Index David Pool - Article - 7th September 1861 Sheriff's Criminal Court, Dumfries, September 4th John McLachlan, a journeyman Slater in Dumfries, was accused of having, on the 31st ultimo, stolen a pocket-book and £5 from or near to the person of Walter McMillan, a joiner, when at the farm-steading of Burnmonth. McLachlan pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to be imprisoned for forty days. Credit is due to Constable David Pool, Sanquhar, for the tact displayed in fixing on the accused as the thief, and ultimately recovering the £5, plastered out of sight in the roof of one of the office-houses at Burnmonth.
